Project-based learning PBL
Project-based learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which it is believed that students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.
Students learn about a subject by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex question, challenge, or problem.
PBL provides participants the opportunity to develop team-working skills. When we present a problem to students, we guide them with the right questions that will strengthen their ability to observe, communicate, collaborate and solve problems.
The ultimate goal of project-based learning is to empower participants to develop critical thinking and take actions to make the world a better place.
Natural Building Pizza Oven PBL
This is a fantastic experience where participants learn natural building. If we look at the world with critical thinking, we will be able to understand that our society is creating a lot of negative impacts to the natural world around us. Concrete is an example of something that has a massive carbon footprint. The fact is there are always local alternatives for beautiful natural building structures, for example, bamboo, adobe bricks, rammed earth, timber, that are many sustainable alternatives we can use to build.
The Pizza Oven PBL teaches students how to make natural building plaster. It is an immersive experience, they feel the mud and remember the feeling that a good natural building mix has, with this memory, they are able to recreate this same mix whenever they are.
Students learn mathematics by creating the foundation to the oven, they learn how to calculate the area inside the oven. The heat and the airflow inside the oven provide us a fantastic experience to learn physics and thermodynamics. And when the oven is ready, we have a great time making pizza and learning fractions. Who doesn't want a slice of a Margherita?
This project also focuses on 21st Century Skills because we need to work as a team to build a pizza oven. We learn how to observe, communicate, collaborate and how to solve problems.
The outcome of this project is not the pizza oven, but the healthy social environment created around it. A perfect place to inspire meaningful and regenerative conversations for us to empower our community with one message: we are able to make the world a better place.
Natural Handmade Soap PBL
Sometimes all we need to feel relaxed, energized or happy is a good shower.
Unfortunately, most people don't think about the impact on the environment created by products they buy to use in their bath.
For example, many soaps are packed in plastic, and plastic usually ends up in the landfill taking years to decompose. The fact is that there is also another problem, many soaps are made with chemicals that are harmful to fishes and other wild animals we may find in lakes, rivers and in the ocean, and sometimes harmful to your skin as well.
This is why we teach students to make soap using natural resources. We learn how people used to make soap 5,000 years ago in Babylon. We also learn Chemistry, we study density, oil creation and understand what are the consequences of the deforestation created by the palm oil industry. This is the reason why our soaps are made with coconut and rice oil, which are renewable sources of ingredients.
Students learn to work together from 0 to 1, which means that they learn how to make the soap, how to improve the recipe, including texture and essential oils to give us a nice scent, they also learn about business, how to create a brand, and put it for sale to inspire more people to take actions that are good for the planet.
Publishing a book PBL
Storytelling is one of the most important skills we can develop in life. We are making choices all the time, and some of our choices depend on our social connections and our relationships. Storytelling can make a positive impact on our lives because it teaches us how to communicate and engage with other people.
More and more people are consuming content in video format, it is really easy to digest, but it’s hard to assimilate the content. When we read a book, we allow our mind to function at another speed. It benefits our brain by creating more synapses and cognitive connections. To empower people to read more, we are empowering them to publish books.
This project-based learning is effective to show participants that it is possible to make plans, take actions and to accomplish a big achievement: publishing a book. It’s not easy, it requires resilience, revision, attention, and also teaches us to listen. This experience teaches participants to hear feedback and to improve based on what people share.
Students learn English, Art, Storytelling and patience. The fact is that to make the world a better place we need to feel empowered. To publish a book is one of the most powerful ways we have to believe in ourselves and share our ideas with the world.
Organic Gardening PBL
There is a report* which shows scientific evidence that kids who spend time in nature become happier and healthier adults. The problem is that our society is getting disconnected from nature like never before. The digital world is growing, and now Metaverse is here, with powerful artificial intelligence algorithms and a virtual reality system (VR) to keep us hooked in the digital world.
My Little Garden is an alternative that connects people with flowers, seeds, soil and vegetables. It brings back to us the essence of being alive, of touching, obersing how beautiful nature is, and how much patience we need to harvest one single tomato.
During this PBL, participants learn a lot about biology, plants, classification, how to grow organic food and the most important of all. How to adapt, how to be creative, how to observe nature and support it to bloom.
My Little Garden was created by The Little Urban Farm and selected by HundrED.org, an organization in Finland, as one of the best innovations in education in the year 2022.
If you think that nature is able to make us happier and healthier, join this PBL.

Business Development PBL
Business can create a positive impact in the world, a lot of good examples show that it’s possible to bring awareness and consciousness when we are making profit. This is why we empower participants to understand how a social enterprise works. We also inspire people to be aware of values such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) as a foundation for starting their business. That is the way to thrive in a world that is collapsing.
A lot of students, including university students, do not learn everything they need about business when they graduate from high school or college. The business world today, the market, isn't the same as it was forty or ten years ago. Now we have a dynamic and fast speed world that is also changing due to consequences of the pandemic restrictions we see everywhere around the world.
This project-based teaches students how to create products that do not use plastic on packing, products that bring alternatives, products that do not affect bird habitats in the tropical rainforest.
It’s possible to make the world a better place with good products that are created by a community with well intentioned and mindful people, that is why we want you to join our community and help us to make the world a better place.
Videomaker PBL
Stories can change the world. Some people may disagree with that, but there is one guy who had a dream, and he told us a story about this dream. This guy is Martin Luther King Junior, and his famous speech “I have a dream” is proof that yes, stories can change the world.
The videomaker summer camp was created to find a healthy balance between being online and offline existence. Technology is bringing us a lot of benefits, such as clean energy, internet and logistics, but is also creating some problems such as instant gratification addiction and anxiety when someone takes a long to reply to your text message.
This summer camp was created to illuminate the new generation about how the almost forgotten art of storytelling can bring benefits to their lives. It will focus on important skills such as creativity, curiosity, adaptability and critical thinking.
Participants will learn how to communicate, not only with words, but with images. They will learn inspiring messages that will empower them to work. Work, work, and work more, but do not forget, comma means, take a break. Breathe.
If you are taking a deep breath, that is something that can also change the world. Help us to bring more calm, awareness and consciousness for the future storytellers of our world, maybe they are also full dreams. Remember that guy who had a dream? Yes, we are all able to change the world.
